International Peace Day is Coming - September 21!

On September 21, people all over the world will celebrate the International Day of Peace and Global Ceasefire. Last year more than 27 million people in 192 countries took part in activities to promote peace on that one day. Will you be part of the wave this year?

Set aside by the UN first in 1981 and established for this same date each year in 2001, this is a day for action, for prayer, for nonviolence, for celebration, for learning – all focused on massing our collective energy for the peace we cherish.

As you think about what you will do for Peace Day, reflect on these three simple words:

• Caring – Why is peace important to you?
• Commitment – What will you do about it?
• Community – Who will you join with, pooling your energies to make a difference?

Peace on earth will not drop magically from the sky to envelop our planet in her loving arms. It will come when we the people stand up, speak up, pray and act to make the seed of peace within each one of us a living reality in the world for all of us.

Whatever your particular lens for peace may be – justice, right relationship, inner peace, nonviolence, stopping wars, environmental sustainability, ending poverty, cross-cultural harmony, etc. – please join the human wave for peace on this special day.
